I thought creating a personal blog would be easy. I write, I post it online, and I go about my day. However, it was not that simple. The idea to create a personal blog has been in my head for about a year now. Summer of 2022, I decided I create a personal blog. Summertime seemed so ideal; I would have free time, I would not be enrolled in any classes, I would have no student organizations to be an active member in I would be completely focused on the curation of my personal blog. Needless to say, the summer of 2022 was not the right timing for me. When I did not achieve this goal, I thought the summer of 2023 would be it. Just as last summer, I thought I would finally have the free time to dedicate to creating my personal blog. I was even inspired by family members who have authored books in the past and created their own personal blog. Even with being surrounded by this inspiration I still did not make the time for myself. I looked at creating a blog as a next step in my career as a journalist. I knew I wanted to use the platform to create more personable and niche content. Also, I wanted to utilize the platform as a digital resume.
I have this saying, “Always make time for yourself,” whether that is solo dates, 24-hour getaway, or simply allotting an hour a day to do your favorite hobby. Looking back, I realize I was not “making time” for myself or the betterment of my career. BUT I am not going to dwell on the past nor beat myself up about it because look where we are now! The timing has lined up perfectly for me. So, why am I choosing now - the middle of my LAST semester of college - to launch such a massive project. The short answer is deadlines. As I stated earlier, I thought summertime would be fitting since I did not have much responsibility. Turns out I needed my courses to get me to this moment. You, reader, can thank my senior capstone class and professor for the launch of "Brianna’s Word Dump". Even though I did have the idea and it was going to be done some day, I chose to begin my blog as my senior project. It just makes sense to me. I will have to complete this blog if I want to pass the class. Of course, Brianna’s Word Dump will live on well after the classroom. This was just the perfect opportunity to start with no excuses! And thus, Brianna’s Word Dump was born. I look forward to creating content for my personal blog and seeing how I will grow in all aspects of content creation.
Thank you for joining me on this journey called blogging! Reader, you are much appreciated! See you in the next word dump.
