It is not talked about enough how September is the Monday of all months. No offense to anyone whose birthday is in September BUT, this is my least favorite month! I feel like this September came in my house, knocked everything over for me to clean up, and walked right out the door like nothing happened.
From car accidents to financial defeat, I could not catch a break this month. Coming into my last semester of my undergraduate program, my expectations for the semester were pretty average. I had the mindset the semester was going to be a breeze. I spent the entire month of August and September job hunting. I am not about the broke college student life. I need a stream of income coming in from SOMEWHERE. I was already feeling defeated going into September. To add fuel to fire, I was in a car accident at the top of the month. Gratefully, I was not injured in the accident, however, I cannot say the same about my car. The accident was certainly inconveniencing. I remember a piece of advice my grandfather gave me, "Nothing lasts forever."
Often, I find myself in situations where I have difficulty expressing my emotions, but I am improving myself in that aspect. #InMyHealingEra. September undeniably placed me in positions that I would not usually face. That is one of the things I do like about growing up, definitely not talking about bills, learning how to be there for myself and allowing myself to feel my emotions unapologetically.
Things began to look up toward the ending of the month, though. I was inducted into Colligate 100, an organization dedicated to community service and mentorship. I am proud of myself because this is an organization, I have been interested in joining since my freshman year in 2019. Luckily, they began accepting women into the program at our campus' chapter this year. September was a victorious month for me in the gym. I do not usually step out of my comfort zone in the gym but this month I tried new exercises and wore gym clothes that I felt confident in. To end the month on a positive note, I got a job offer! September was wild, but like every day, month, and year, I could walk away from it, learning a lesson or something new. However, I just pray October comes here like it has some sense.
